Research and Development

Thematic Projects

The so-called R&D projects – Research and Development – seek answers to technological and market challenges based on originality and innovation. Biodiversity monitoring, analysis and evaluation of ecosystem services and valuation of Natural Capital are IPÊ’s action fronts in this line. Using its expertise in science and innovation, IPÊ seeks new technologies that can more accurately identify and evaluate the results of the work promoted by companies and institutions from various sectors that invest in sustainability. Development of Technologies for Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Natural Capital in Environmental Programs

Project Developing Technologies for Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Natural Capital in Environmental Programs

Since 2015, IPÊ and Duke Energy Geração Paranapanema (since 2017 CTG Brasil) have been carrying out the project “Development of Simplified Procedures for the Economic Monetary Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Non-Monetary Valuation of Cultural Ecosystem Services Associated with Forest Restoration”, through a Research & Development – R&D ANEEL initiative.

The work aims to contribute to key ecosystem services (carbon sequestration, water quality, soil quality, and biodiversity) by using the technologies for valuing ecosystem services and the natural capital of companies.
