Its goal is to disseminate sustainable practices that contribute to increase the income of small rural producers and, at the same time, increase the conservation of water resources, which adds to the efforts for the water security of the Cantareira System.
The “Água Boa” project bets on Environmental Education as a tool for the population to exercise its citizenship with regard to water, sewage, garbage, and urban forests in Nazaré Paulista. In recent years, it has held training courses and activities for young high school students, as well as courses for 72 teachers from the municipal school network.
Integrated actions of reforestation, research, community involvement, and environmental education that collaborate to increase knowledge about the importance of water and the Atlantic Forest biodiversity by the region’s residents and decision-makers.
A group of women embroiderers from Nazaré Paulista earn extra income by producing articles that portray the biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest and understand more about topics such as entrepreneurship and environmental protection.
The project aims to identify the skills and talents of the residents of Nazaré Paulista (SP), and also to train people who live in three 3 rural districts of the municipality to create and develop products that favor sustainable practices and are capable of generating additional income for their families.
IPÊ develops a work of evaluation and valuation of the ecosystem services in the regions covered by the Cantareira System, including the city of Nazaré Paulista. The objective is to gather information to propose methodologies for the spatialization and economic valuation of the ecosystem services identified within this region, related to the forms of land use and occupation and rural development.
