Partnership Models

Through partnerships with the private sector and other organizations, IPÊ seeks to stimulate the view of institutions, their collaborators, consumers, and clients towards the socio-environmental cause. To do this, it creates joint strategies that engage these actors in actions that generate mutual benefits for its participants and the cause.

Since 2003, we have been carrying out customized projects for companies and organizations, which are directly related to IPÊ’s mission and to the objectives and values of the partner institutions. See some examples of who has already been our partner and get inspired to participate with us in actions like this one:

IPÊ and Correios together in Environmental Challenge

IPÊ – Instituto de Pesquisas Ecológicas and Correios signed a partnership in 2011 to plant 20,000 seedlings of trees native to the Atlantic Forest, which will contribute to the restoration and conservation of the biome. The new “Desafio Ambiental dos Correios” campaign commemorated the 10th anniversary of the “Papai Noel dos Correios” initiative, completed in 2010, and was a way of giving back to society for its participation over the years.

In the “Environmental Challenge”, employees of the São Paulo Metropolitan Regional Directorate (20,000 in all) are invited to plant a virtual tree via the company’s intranet. Each registration will be transformed into a real tree in the region of Nazaré Paulista (SP), representing each of the employees. The city, as well as being home to IPÊ’s headquarters, is an extremely important region for the conservation of water resources and Brazilian biodiversity. This is where the reservoirs of the Cantareira System are located, responsible for supplying water to around 50% of the population of the Metropolitan Region of the city of São Paulo.

The campaign also provides employees with information about the characteristics of Atlantic Forest trees, how the climate and animals benefit from them and the importance of this Brazilian biome. In addition, planting parties have been planned, with the presence of some employees, as well as lectures and training on the environment and restoration, which will be carried out by IPÊ technicians.

The 20,000 are planted by the Institute’s team, which has great expertise in species research, forest restoration and environmental education. IPÊ is also responsible for maintaining the soil, replanting new seedlings if necessary, among other actions that will guarantee the seedlings’ full development until they can replant the forest.
