The event is expected to bring together representatives from 122 countries and the European Union to jointly define priorities and the budget for the conservation of migratory species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference takes place every three years and was established by the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), a United Nations environmental treaty in force since 1979. The CMS promotes the conservation of migratory species, their habitats, and migration routes on a global scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several outcomes are expected from CMS COP15. Among them are the evaluation of proposals to update Annex I (threatened species) and Annex II (species with an unfavorable conservation status) of the international treaty. The progress of Concerted Actions\u2014coordinated efforts among countries to address threats to migratory species\u2014will also be reviewed, along with regional conservation agreements and high-level political declarations reaffirming the global commitment to the conservation of migratory species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IP\u00ca co-organizes COP15 with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IP\u00ca is one of the organizers of the event, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. IP\u00ca is involved in activities related to the High-Level Segment, participant reception, volunteer coordination, and the participation of Traditional and Indigenous Peoples and Communities (PCTI), with support from the Government of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, the GEF Pr\u00f3-Esp\u00e9cies Project\/FUNBIO\/WWF-Brasil, and The Pew Charitable Trusts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the Institute will bring essential topics to the center of the debate for the conservation of migratory species and biodiversity. Check out our actions at COP15:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pantanal Day: \u201cPantanal in Motion: Science, Governance, and Financing for the Conservation of Migratory Species\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Event organized by IP\u00ca, The Pew Charitable Trusts, and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event will gather representatives from governments, scientific institutions, civil society organizations, and international partners to promote a strategic dialogue on ways to strengthen the conservation of migratory species and support sustainable development in the Pantanal. Case studies from key grassland regions\u2014including the Pantanal and Pampas in Brazil\u2014will be presented, showing how initiatives on private lands are essential to fill conservation gaps.
